Coming Up: ATFP Ep. 22

One of Capcom’s most recognizable and memorable characters was a hearty Knight that spent most of his time running around in his underwear. It might not even go too far to say that Arthur has died more times than any other video game character in history. Why? He just happens to be the star of Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts – arguably the hardest game of the 16-bit generation, and one of the hardest games of all time. Then why the hell do people love it so much?

Come with the ATFP crew as they discover why so many people wax nostalgic over a game that’s built around making you feel bad about yourself. Got questions? Post them to the Ask The Hosts forum, or e-mail the hosts at afterthefact@geekerific.com!

The Next 3 Shows

The ATFP Crew has decided on the next 3 games they’ll take on for episodes 22, 23, and 24! Halloween weekend, they’ll tackle Capcom’s classically hard Super Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts! Two weeks after that, the difficulty pendulum swings over to Kirby’s Adventure, then Thanksgiving weekend brings the first comparative show when they play Mega Man 1 & 2!

ATFP Ep. 21: Haunting Starring Polterguy

Coming Up: ATFP Ep. 21

Before Electronic Arts was the videogame industry equivalent of the mythical Kraken, they occasionally pulled together one of those odd-bird video games that no one knows about… but someone loves. In the early 90’s, the Genesis played host to a leather-clad, flat-top wearing, green skinned ghost whose entire purpose in death was to scare the living crap out of the sleazy Sardini family.

After delaying for one episode, the crew takes on the unclassifiable EA Genesis opus, Haunting starting Polterguy! Got questions for the crew? Post them to the Ask The Hosts forum, or e-mail the hosts at afterthefact@geekerific.com!

ATFP Ep. 20: ToeJam & Earl

Episode 20 of After The Fact is now available! On this episode, the ATFP crew discusses terrible writing in good video games, uses the word “random” 273 times, and ruminates on the goofy Genesis cult-classic ToeJam & Earl!

Episode 20 Game Change!

The early ’90s were like the wild west for video game designers. Take a shot on whatever you think might work, and hope you survive the fray. The 16-bit era played host to a wide array of sleeper hits that would eventually become indie icons. A pair of present-grabbing alien rappers fit this bill perfectly, creating critical buzz in spite of a lack of monetary success, and garnering a notstalgic fanbase worthy of much larger franchises.

A key absence this weekend caused the ATFP crew to call an audible away from Haunting starring Polterguy, landing squarely on the Genesis sleeper Toejam & Earl! Got questions for the crew? Post them to the Ask The Hosts forum, or e-mail the hosts at afterthefact@geekerific.com!

ATFP Bonus Stage: A Conversation With Adam Dorsey

Another ATFP Bonus Stage is now available! On this special BONUS episode, Adam Dorsey joins the ATFP crew to discuss tragic childhood video game purchases, the merits and flaws of acheivements, motion-controlled Heavy Rain, and Adam’s uncomfortable excitement for Dance Central!
